Aaron Jai McGirt, 20, of North Chesterfield, VA went to be with his Abuela on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was born on January 29, 2004 in The Bronx, New York to Ade Lateef and Myra Luz McGirt. When Aaron turned 4 months we got the most terrible news a parent can ever receive Aaron was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1 the most severe. When Aaron was first diagnosed the doctors told us that Aaron would not live past 2 years old which he over came those odds. Aaron had many goals one which was to be the next mayor of Richmond City. The goals he did meet, were graduating high school, going to the Yankee’s stadium, and most importantly living to be 20 years old. Aaron had recently moved out and moved into a house with some roommates. He was a warrior, a fighter, a jokester, and a big movie person. Aaron was really passionate about politics and was soon to start a job in the Richmond City Counsel while also starting at VCU to earn his political science degree. You will forever be Mom and Dad’s Hero and Warrior.

So very sad to hear about Aaron’s passing. He stole my heart as a baby, and has been in my heart since then. His resilience has taught so many people about strength, determination, and the power of a family’s love. Prayers and hugs to Aaron’s entire family.
