Obituary

Stigall, Alexander D., 87, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Born in Clover, VA, he was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. and Ruby Thompson Stigall, three brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 63 years, Edith; four proud sons, Thomas Stigall (Sharon), Michael Stigall (Patricia), Mark Stigall (Carol), and Roger Stigall; three grandchildren, Brian, Zachary, and Logan; a great-grandchild, Luke; numerous nieces and nephews. A US Army veteran of World War II, Alexander was a retired mechanic with DuPont (30 years) and Allied Chemical (9 years). He served as a deacon at Friendship Baptist Church in Chesterfield. He was a great musician and shared his talent at many nursing homes and churches. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10), where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W. Hundred Rd., Chester. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Bon Secours Hospice and Palliative Care, 8580 Magellan Pkwy., Richmond, VA 23227.
