Obituary

Laura Alma Nickels, 84, of Chesterfield, VA departed this life on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in her home, surrounded by her loving family and Pastor. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Willis Wellman; two brothers; and her beloved son, Andy Nickels. Carrying on her memory is her husband of 65 years, Bill Nickels; daughters, Dianna McAnelly (Jay), Kay Allen (Gary), and Sheila Nickels; sister, Barbara Puckett (David); 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Alma graduated from Bluefield College in 1957 with a degree in accounting. She then spent the following years working in the accounting field in the Richmond area. She is a woman strong in faith and is a devoted member of Heritage Baptist Church. Alma cherished the simple things in life, her family, her friends, and her faith.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 6 to 8 pm at Heritage Baptist Church, 7777 Cogbill Road. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11 am at Heritage Baptist Church with interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Heritage Baptist Church Building Fund, 7777 Cogbill Rd. Chesterfield, VA 23832.
