Obituary

Amy Allison Moldovan of Chesterfield, VA passed away at home on March 11 after a battle with cancer. She was 62. At her side throughout was her husband of 30 years, Gary Pond. She is survived by her sons Zachary Pond, Taylor Pond and his wife Emily, Lindsay Conrad, and Kevin Pond and his wife Megan. She is also survived by her grandchildren Libby, Logan, Layla, Lucie, Teddy, Gregory, and multiple nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include her sisters Joyce Manning of Elyria, Ohio, Kim Detchon of Medina, Ohio, and brothers Adam Moldovan of Burlington, Vermont and Greg Moldovan of Hilton Head, SC. Her mother Jane and father Aurel predeceased her.

Amy was the second youngest of 5 siblings. She was born in Lorain, Ohio and raised by her parents Aurel and Jane Moldovan. She and Gary met unexpectedly while vacationing in Florida and as they say the rest is history. They lived in Chesterfield, VA for over 30 years and spent 3 years in Boynton Beach, FL for business, ultimately returning to Chesterfield, VA in 2018 to be closer to their family whom they loved unconditionally.

Amy attended college at the University of Akron earning a BFA in graphic design. Over her career she held her own design studio, worked in marketing for real estate and with logistics for healthcare. Personally, Amy epitomized “treat others the way you want to be treated”. Friend or stranger, she wouldn’t hesitate to lend an ear or helping hand. A true renaissance woman she could be found tackling a home renovation project, sewing extravagant Christmas stockings, reading a book, or cooking a holiday meal to feed a small village. Amy brought the best out in everyone and was a beacon of hard work and honesty in a world that desperately needs it.  Those of whom that had a professional or personal relationship with Amy fully understand her unparalleled kindness, compassion, generosity, and positive spirit.  The tears that will be shed and the remembrance of the wonderful memories with her are a testament to Amy

  1. As another college friend, Amy was definitely a fun-loving go-getter, and a true inspiration to all us “Chipmunks” (as we called our inner group) on Spanton 5 (College dorm/floor). Although we had not been in contact for years, it still saddens me that she has passed. We had so many great college memories that are now cherished. Lots of laughs (as you did a lot with Amy around) and a few tears.
My sincere condolences to the family, I know she’ll be missed.

  2. I can’t begin to describe the loss we all feel with Amy no longer in our lives. She touched so many of us in untold ways. Always caring, giving, loving as she put family & friends first. I love you & thank you for touching my life in so many ways making me a better person. Love always, your big brother, Greg

  3. Gary- my heart goes out to you as you work to navigate life following this devastating loss of Amy. As as a friend and coworker of 7 years, I’m incredibly grateful for the time she and I spent together in December. I will always treasure those conversations and our goodbye hug. I never imagined it would be our last. You have very much been in my thoughts and prayers over the last several weeks. Sending you my love and hugs. Amy will forever be in my heart.
