Obituary

ANGELO SETIEN, 96, passed away on August 20, 2022. He was born in Barre, Vermont on November 25, 1925. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Geneva Hughes Setien. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Gibbs and husband, Tom, of Huntersville, N.C.; a son, Jeffrey Setien and wife, Ann, of Richmond, VA., four grandchildren, Mackenzie Gibbs, Eileen Jackson, Scott Setien, and Jordan Cavanaugh (David), and three great-grandchildren, Colin Jackson, Nora Cavanaugh, and Isla Cavanaugh. He served in the United States’ Navy during WWII and graduated from the University of Richmond in 1948 and the University of Vermont in 1951. Over his career, he played semi-professional and professional baseball (Boston Braves). He was a coach, teacher, mentor, principal (Oak Grove Elementary and George Wythe High School) and school administrator. His favorite activities included all sports events, especially baseball. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his sense of humor, and his integrity. A funeral service will be held on August 26, 2022 at 2 o’clock pm at Beulah United Methodist Church, 6930 Hopkins Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. The family will greet friends at 1 pm prior to the church service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Richmond, 4600 Cox Road #130, Glen Allen, VA 23060, a special charity for the family
