Obituary

Anna Louise Thomas Lane, 75, of North Chesterfield, Virginia went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2023. She was born October 21, 1947 to Hallie Chavis and Josephine Thomas. Anna was a member of First Baptist Church of South Richmond.

 

Anna is preceded in death by her father Hallie Chavis, mother Josephine Thomas, her sister Dr. Maxine Thomas Highsmith and her brothers James Thomas and Frank Thomas all of Raleigh, North Carolina.

 

Left to cherish her memory: her devoted husband of 54 years, Eddie H. Lane, daughter Ayanna L. Richardson, son Diallo N. Lane, son-in-law Shawn R. Richardson, and her three grandchildren Madison Richardson, Donovan Richardson, and Solomon Lane who affectionately called her MeMe. She is also survived by her sister Alice J. Peebles, sister and brother-in-law Lottie and Milton Jones, ex brother-in-law James Highsmith all of Raleigh and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

 

Anna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who especially enjoyed spending precious time with her grandchildren. She attended Ligon High School and Wake Beauty School before becoming a licensed beautician in Raleigh. After moving to Chesterfield in 1982, she extended her passion for cooking by serving 34 years in Chesterfield County Food and Nutrition Services before retiring in 2017. In addition to being an exceptional cook, Anna loved to create floral arrangements and handmade crafts for family, friends and church.

 

Anna was loved and will truly be missed by her family. A memorial service to honor her will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Morrissett Funeral Home at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society may be made in honor of Anna.
