Obituary

Armand Joseph Archambault Jr., age 60, wore many hats in life: brother, friend, caretaker, husband, veteran, father, godfather, teacher and coach. Each reflecting a piece of his gentle, giant heart. In recent years, he faced significant health challenges due to a long battle with diabetes and the toll of his career, yet he remained a simple soul who cherished a good cup of coffee and meaningful conversation. On January 9th, after spending the day running errands with his wife, he took his final breath while being rushed to VCU Medical Center in the early evening.

Born in Palmer, Massachusetts, to the late Armand Archambault, Sr., and the late Joanne Urban, he was the eldest of his two siblings: James and Darlene. Growing up, he explored a wide range of activities, from joining clubs like the Boy Scouts, to playing team sports such as baseball and football. He also found joy in simple pleasures like camping with his grandparents and playing outdoors with friends. He graduated from Gateway Regional High School, where he met his eventual wife, and later served honorably in the United States Air Force.

Armand had a rare gift for connecting with people. He would strike up a conversation with anyone, making them laugh and feel like a lifelong friend. His curiosity knew no bounds, he would surprise you with a fun fact or obscure bit of knowledge that left you marveling at his interests. He loved spending time with his family, watching movies and sports, learning, appreciating nature, and working with cars—a passion sparked in childhood while working on engines with his father and grandfather.

This love for cars blossomed into a career. After serving in the military, he earned numerous ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications and held various positions in the automotive industry over the course of his 35+ year career.  In 2019, he retired as the manager of fleet vehicle fueling systems for the City of Richmond.

Armand is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Teresa and their two sons, Joseph and Emmitt, his sister Darlene and her husband Daniel, and their children Joshua and Kiana, along with many friends throughout the country. Though he is deeply missed, his loved ones find comfort knowing he is finally at peace.

All services were private and entrusted to Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service in Richmond Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made directly to your area food banks to help those in need, in Armand’s honor.

  1. Theresa says:

    Armand,
You’ve been a friend for what feels like forever.

  2. Hello, my name is Deron Bullock and I worked with Armand at the City of Richmond in the office next to his and I want to express my deepest condolences to the family for your loss. Armand and I enjoyed our time working together for years as we often reminisced about living up north, his being from Massachusetts and me being from New York. Armand was a master technician, and up until the time he left the City, he held the highest number of ASE certifications of any technician that ever worked at Fleet. His knowledge and friendly personality will surely be missed.

    Sincerely,
    Deron B.
