Obituary

Arnold H. Wash, 72, native of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Elizabeth “Liz” Wash; brother, Donald “Duck” Wash; granddaughter, Tinsley Rae Martin “TT”; and his amazing mother-in-law, Evelyn Bagby Daiger.

Arnold graduated from Manchester High School in 1969, joined the Army in September 1970, got his wings from the 505th 82nd Airborne in February 1971 and made the best decision of all when he married his high school sweetheart and wife, Cheryl, of 51 years in June of 1971. In 1975, Arnold joined the Local 51 (International Union of Elevator Constructors) where he worked for 31 years before retiring. Not only was Local 51 a union, it was also a brotherhood, and they quickly became a huge part of his family.

Arnold was a man of many nicknames, and a man of even more friends. Arnold was an avid fisherman and loved being on his boat, the “Cheryl Lynn.” He enjoyed being with his family, being at their river place on the York River, hunting, loving on his grandchildren, spending time with his daughter, trips to the casino, watching football and NASCAR, loved making people laugh, and loved telling stories. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Bagby Wash; daughter, Ashley Wash Martin (Robert); grandchildren, Chesney Lynn, Paisley Evelyn, and Grayson Camden; twin brother, Ronnie Wash (Karen); brother-in-law, Billy Bagby (Cathie); sisters-in-law, Lisa Bagby Gholson (Jeff), Karen Bagby Wash (Ronnie), and Billie Wash; nieces and nephews, Ron (Sandra), Shawn (Pam) and Danielle Wash, Donnie, Stevie, and John Michael Wash, Will Bagby, Dinki Bedner, James (Cathy) and Jessi (Joey) Gholson; and lots of loved great nieces and nephews. He was also survived by a tremendous amount of friends who have become family. The family will hold a viewing November 25, 2022 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. His services will follow at 2 p.m. at Dale Memorial Park where he will be placed in his final resting place.

    You will be deeply missed by us all. You were always like another uncle to me. You were one of my dads best friends and was always there for him. Rest in Paradise Arnie. Cheryl, Ashley and the rest of the Wash family, I love you all and can’t seem to find the right words because there aren’t any that seem “right”under these circumstances but I’m here for y’all.
