Obituary

Arnold Weiss passed away November 2023 at the age of 97 in Richmond VA. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was born in Froebel, Germany in 1926 as one of 4 children. He married in 1952, started his family and emigrated to the United States in 1956.

He lost his wife, Caecilie, in 2022, after a marriage of 70 years. He is survived by his 4 children and their spouses, Helga(Randy) Nelson, Joachim(Bonnie) Weiss, Gilbert Weiss, Bernadette(Mark) Spell, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Arnold was known as “Opa” (Grandpa) for almost half of his life by those who loved him. He was a hard-working meat cutter, providing his family all they needed and retired in 1988. He always made time for family, but still found time over the years for various hobbies and activities including gardening, fishing, hunting, butchering for friends, wine making, “creative” cooking and was a master storyteller. He and Caecilie loved their family and each other above all, but still found time to be gracious hosts and enjoyed dancing, singing and laughing with family and friends.

Arnold and Caecilie left a legacy of love, laughter, memories and traditions. They will be greatly missed but are finally together again.
