Obituary
Arthur “Moon” Mullins, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 24 2026 in Chester, Virginia
Moon was born on November 29, 1940, in East Rainelle, West Virginia, to Forest and Sylvia Mullins. He graduated from Rupert High School in Rupert, West Virginia, and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960–1964.
Moon worked many jobs throughout his life, including more than thirty years with Philip Morris International as a truck driver. No matter where life took him, he was known as a hardworking man who believed in honesty, loyalty, and doing things the right way.
He loved motorcycles, working outdoors and spending time at the racetrack. But more than any hobby or pastime, Moon loved people.
He never met a stranger. Whether someone knew him for five minutes or fifty years, Moon treated everyone like an old friend. His warm smile, bright blue eyes, quick sense of humor, and genuine kindness made people feel instantly comfortable around him. He was authentic, generous, compassionate, and deeply loved by everyone fortunate enough to know him.
One of Moon’s greatest joys was playing Santa Claus for children’s hospitals, veterans hospitals, nursing homes, and community events for many years. Bringing smiles, laughter, and comfort to others during the Christmas season meant the world to him. Children naturally gravitated toward him, and his joyful spirit created lasting memories for countless families over the years.
Moon and his late wife lovingly adopted Mack and his sister, Alice from the foster care system and later welcomed his nephew Jim into their home, loving and treating him as his own son for the rest of his life. Family was never just something Moon talked about, it was something he lived every day through his actions, sacrifices, and unconditional love.
He is survived by his sons, Mack (Wendy) Mullins and Jim (Elizabeth) Amiss; brothers Frank Mullins and Andy (Mary) Mullins; grandchildren Jessica, Erica, Sean, Logan, and Sara; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Moon was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Alice Mullins; his sister, Cora Davis; and his sister-in-law, Tina Mullins.
A visitation for Moon will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 AM at Morrissett, followed by Moon’s burial at Dale Memorial Park,10201 Newbys Bridge Rd, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
In keeping with Moon’s personality and wishes, the family encourages guests to dress casually and comfortably. Moon was never one for formality and would much rather people come as themselves.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Moon’s honor to your choice a children’s hospital, veterans’ charity, or organization that helps families and children in need.
