Obituary

AUTRY, Barbara Ewell of Chesterfield, VA passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023. She was a beloved and dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, career nurse, and Captain in the United States Army National Guard Nurse Corps. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Thomas Ewell of Holiday, FL; and her two sisters, Janet Ewell Jones and Rebecca Ewell Marchant, both of Sebring, FL. Barbara is survived by her mother, Lillie “Connie” Ruth Ewell of Avon Park, FL; her husband of almost 40 years, William R Autry, Jr of Chesterfield, VA; her three children, William R Autry III (Tiffany) of Colonial Heights, VA, Sasha W Durnal (Caleb) of Henrico, VA, and Hunter J Autry (Savannah) of Chesterfield, VA; six wonderful grandchildren, Cayla, Lily, Freya, and Juniper Durnal, and Asher and Jax Autry; along with many other extended family members and friends. Barbara loved nothing more than spending time with her family and extended family. Some of her favorite family times included ski trips, beach trips and local outings to places such as Costume Teas, Symphony Concerts, and Story Times, etc. She especially loved reading to and playing with her grandchildren who were the apple of her eye! Barbara loved to read, watch movies, care for her pets, and thrift shop among other hobbies. She could spot a treasure faster and cheaper than anyone we know. She also had an amazing green thumb when it came to caring for her plants. Barbara never met a stranger and her compassionate and giving heart brought smiles to all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial visitation will be held from 1 pm – 2 pm Sunday, July 16th at Morrissett Funeral and Cremations Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, N Chesterfield, with a memorial service starting at 2 pm.
