Obituary

Barbara Jean Davison, 79, of Richmond, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was born on January 11, 1944 in New Jersey to the late Robert and Lillian Lanning. Barbara is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Barry Stewart Davison, and their daughter, Joanne Michelle Davison.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy Wright and her husband Graham, her grandson Peter Wall-Stephens and his wife Sarah, her granddaughter Abigail. Barbara is also survived by her siblings Robert Lanning, Robin Lanning, Patricia Targett and her husband John, Bill Lanning and his wife Eleanor, Pamela Price and her husband Burt, and several nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Cranbury, NJ, Barbara was a long time resident of Hopewell and had also resided in Delaware before moving to Virginia in 2020. She was employed as an office manager for 25 years before she retired.

Barbara was very active in the church throughout her life. Known for her snarky sense of humor, she was loving, loyal, and tough and treated her friends like family. She was a wonderful hostess during many parties, gatherings, and barbeques over the years.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks.

  1. We will see you again in your heavenly body! RIP

  2. Condolences to the family and friends of Barb. She was a very special friend and she and Barry were dedicated to our local church in Kenton and welcomed me on that first Sunday I attended. I will always remember her great knowledge of Bible verses and that she made everyone feel so welcome and was the first one to help in anyway she could lend her talents. She will be dearly missed by so many of her Delaware friends as well as all the friends from Hopewell. Rest in peace Barb, you are now home and together with Barry.

  3. I was sad to hear that Barb has passed. I was thinking of her the earlier this month and then later in the week I got the news she went from labor to reward. i worked with Barb in the business office at Kale’s for many, many, many years. We had many, many, many laughs together. Her confidence in me was helpful in my career. Barb was really sharp with an incredible work ethic and a very unique management style – she didn’t manage so much, instead she had her hands in everything, literally; during the Christmas season, any spare moments she had were spent decorating Christmas wreaths for sale in the shop. Barb was full of energy and she lived to serve. To Nancy and Peter, my deepest sympathies.
