Obituary

Beau left his family and friends way too early at the age of 37 years on January 13, 2022. He lived a life that was full and never boring shared by those who chose to travel with him during good days and challenging days. Beau completed a BS and a Master’s Degree in Business but found his greatest passion in public safety helping serve others as a firefighter/paramedic working with various agencies in the Richmond Metropolitan area. Beau enjoyed the opportunity teaching  others in this field as well as his other interests. He was a strong advocate for those he was called upon to help in addition to his family and friends. Beau was equally passionate in being outdoors enjoying rock climbing, hiking and walks along the river. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was always working to find ways to make you laugh most often while sharing a good cup of “Real” coffee or a distinctive unique crafted brew all the while reminding you that, “Every day you alone choose if it will be a good day or a bad day.”

Cherishing his memory and charged with sharing his legacy are his parents, Tammy and Ramon Cantu, Peter Bouharoun. Relatives in South Carolina (Bouharoun), NC/WV (Pope) and MD/SC (Payne), Best Friend Travis Mousel and Special Friends: Alex Razie, Amy Kirby, Sharon O’Brian, Dave, Sue and Sam Auerbach, Denise Decker, Elizabeth Clarke, Kenneth Williams along with many others brothers and sisters in the public safety family.

A Celebration of Life event will be planned at a later time at one of Beau’s favorite outdoor locations along with a gathering at one of his favorite places to meet up with family and friends. Information about the event will be made available on social media outlets shared by family and friends. Donations may be made in Beau’s name to a charity of your choice or you can consider choosing from one of the following: Tunnels to Towers Foundation Fallen First Responders Home Program, Make A Wish Foundation, Heros.org (Public Safety organization for line of duty deaths in the Washington DC and northern Virginia area) or to IAFF Center for Excellence for Behavioral Health Treatment and Recovery www.iaffrecoverycenter.com.

God will never leave us and will always be there to help when we call. It is in the darkest moments of life that we need Him most. May His presence be near you to lead, guide and give you the sweet peace and grace you will need not only today but in the coming hours and years. I love you and Ramon and my prayers will continue for you both.

  3. Eric says:

Beau was a great guy. I met him many years ago in medic class at VCU and had the pleasure of running EMS calls when he was a member at TVRS. We lost contact over the years and I will regret not taking the time to reach out. Each time I have a cup of good coffee I will remember him

  4. Mom says:

He is always my baby I miss him so thank you eric

  5. Tammy, I am so sorry to hear about Beau’s passing. Beau was a true friend to me in High School. He left an everlasting impression on me about her to treat others. He will be missed.
