Obituary

Betty Dianne Powell went on to be with the Lord April 28, 2022. She is preceded in death by her mother Reginald Powell Harris and her grandson Luthuli Sigauke.

Betty known to most as Dianne, was born January 21, 1940, at Bellevue Hospital in Harlem New York. She grew up on 116th and Lenox Ave.  Dianne married Robert White (deceased) in the early 60s where they briefly lived in California. They returned to make Roanoke VA then later Richmond VA their home.

She received a Business Certificate from Virginia Business College. She worked as an account manager at First & Merchant Bank for many years.  Dianne met and married Willie Sneed in 1971. Their home was always the place that everyone could come to for a hot meal and live music.

She received Christ at an early age and was baptized as well as her children at Shiloh Baptist Church.  Betty was a faithful member of Dale City Christian Church where she served as a church mother and on many boards including The Gathering of The Saints. Then relocated to Richmond and became a faithful member of Thrive Church where she served on the Food Pantry Committee.

She leaves behind daughter Theresa Sigauke, sons Robert White Jr, Gregory White (Sharon), daughter Stephanie White, three granddaughters Latasha Lawson, Thandiwe Lewis, Sierra White, three grandsons Robert White III. Gregory White Jr and Darryl White, eight great grandchildren and a host of cousins as well as very dear close friends Derek and LaVorn Scarbrough, and Betty Jones her longtime friend since fourth grade.

The memorial services will be held Saturday May 07, 2022, 1PM at Thrive Church 7211 Ironbridge Road Chesterfield, VA 23234. Repass to follow in the Multipurpose room. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her name to The Susan G. Komen Foundation.
