Obituary

Betty Lou Bobbio, beloved mom and grandma, died at Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville, VA last month on February 11, 2021 at the age of 75.

She was born to Everett and Beatrice Mathis in 1945. She survived a tragic accident at the age of two, and then grew up to become a beautiful, charming girl who fell in love with her future husband, the late Stephen Bobbio, at the tender age of twelve. Betty and Stephen spent the rest of their lives together, two singular souls matched in their respect and appreciation of each other. They raised one child and dozens of cats and dogs together. As soon as he could afford to, Stephen bought Betty her first horse when she was in her mid-20s, establishing a lifelong passion.

She was the eternal caretaker of all living things. From her special needs baby sister to her two granddaughters, Betty spent her days in service to those around her. Happiest in her garden, with a rescue cat or two by her side, she will be missed by her surviving daughter, Kathleen, son-in-law, Zee, granddaughters, Aaliyah and Amelie, her brother, Bob, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will take place on May 29th, 2021 in a Memorial Garden near her home in Richmond, VA.
