Obituary

Ratcliff, Betty Snow, 80, of Chesterfield, formerly of Saltville, VA, departed this life Monday, May 17, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to George M. Snow, Jr. and Verda Leah Snow on February 9, 1930. Betty was known for her crocheted afghans, handmade quilts and crafts, a love for Yahtzee, a great peanut butter fudge recipe, and her beautiful smile and contagious laughter. She will be dearly missed by the many friends and family who loved her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Blair Warden Ratcliff (Ham), her brother, George M. Snow, Jr. (Junior), sisters, Velma Beatrice (Tootsie) Taylor, Mabel Edna Haynes, and grandson, Joshua Wayne Ratcliff. She is survived by her children, Charlene Shade (Cary), Larry Ratcliff and Dee Dee Varner (Bill). She was blessed with 10 grandchildren; Trey, Leah, Amy, Dusty, Shane, Johnna, Charlie, Leigh, Melody and Susanna and 15 great-grandchildren – Taylor, Hunter, Levi, Logan, Alex, Jonah, Aubrey, Jack, Marin, Brendan, Marshall, Dalton, Taylor, Jillian and Jordan. She is also survived by one sister, Wilma Chapman (Don) and two brothers, William Snow and Ross Snow (Laverne) and sister-in-law, Virginia Snow. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rte. 10), where a prayer service will be held at 7 pm. The family will receive friends at Henderson Funeral Home, Saltville, VA from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, May 20, 2010. Services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11 am with interment at the Elizabeth Cemetery immediately following the service.
