Obituary

Craddock, Charles Edward Jr (Chuck), 70, of Chesterfield, Virginia, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and warrior for Christ, reported for his Heavenly assignment on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Craddock, Sr., sister, Melody Craddock Adams and infant daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Craddock. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Katherine Angelique Craddock, his mother, Janet Sprouse Craddock, children, Deirdre Brown (David) and Charles III (Bubba) (Jamie), Chelsie and Christina Craddock, stepsons Joshua (Caitlin) and Zachary (Brandy) Pletcher; siblings Cayce and Tony Craddock, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Chuck was born and raised in Richmond/Chesterfield. He graduated from Meadowbrook High School where he captained the football team, was selected as All District, All Regional, and All Metro Linebacker, and honored as High School Athlete of the Year in 1971. After attending East Carolina University on a football scholarship, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Special Forces and the 82nd Airborne and received the Army Combat Medical Badge and U.S. Army Commendation Medal. In 1994, he attended the Billy Graham School of Ministry. Although he was raised in the Baptist Church, Chuck’s life focus was radically changed in the 1980’s when he rededicated his life to Jesus Christ. In 1990, Chuck was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene and, shortly thereafter, he founded and pastored Chester Outreach Church. Since January 1, 2017, Chuck has pastored Jahnke Road Baptist Church and was ordained in the Baptist Church on June 11, 2017. In addition, for over three decades, Chuck positively impacted the greater Richmond community through his work in a variety of outreach ministries, including ministering with Prison Fellowship and Good News Jail Ministry, regular ministry at Deep Meadow Correctional Center and the VA Hospital, conducting Sunday services at Chesterfield Square, and teaching Bible classes to local rehabilitation center residents. Chuck taught and led a diverse multi-denominational congregation of men, Man to Men Mentors, which he founded in 2012. In his spare time Chuck enjoyed reading and spending time with family. His life’s passion was to reach the lost with the love and good news of Jesus Christ and to teach, disciple and encourage his brothers and sisters in Christ. He fought the good fight, he finished the race and he kept the faith. The family will receive friends from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., (Route 10). Following a private interment, a celebration of Chuck’s life and ministry will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Jahnke Road Baptist Church, 6023 Jahnke Road, Richmond, Virginia 23225, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
