Obituary
With deep sadness, we announce that Charles Wayne Jones passed away at home on June 18, 2026, with his loving wife, BrendaLee Jones, by his side, after facing metastatic cancer. Charlie was born on December 5, 1955 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to William Montel Jones and Dorothy Lubonski Jones. He met Brenda in Norfolk, VA and they were married on November 20, 1993. For 32 years, Charlie shared a caring and devoted marriage with the love of his life, Brenda. Charlie and Brenda supported each other through several challenges and created many memories. Together they built a close-knit family. He helped raise her three sons, treating them as his own and offering them love, guidance, and support throughout the years.
A dedicated husband, stepfather, grandfather, and friend, Charlie’s life revolved around the people he loved. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Known as “PaPa” or “PaPa Charlie”, Charlie nurtured and encouraged his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the kind of person that family and friends could always count on. He was straightforward and down-to-earth, with a dry sense of humor. His sincere words and advice always came from a caring heart.
Charlie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: watching baseball, bowling, fishing, taking quiet walks with his dog “Bean”, and spending time with family. He liked to explore by taking scenic drives with his family. Charlie also genuinely enjoyed his work at Walmart, where he was respected and appreciated for being hard-working and dependable.
More than anything, Charlie will be remembered for his devotion to family, his steadfast presence, and the countless ways he showed up for the people he loved. His legacy lives on in the family he helped raise, support, and love. Charlie is dearly missed by his wife, BrendaLee Jones; his siblings, Patricia Stike, John Jones, and Cindy Zucker; his stepsons, Michael Harrell and Jack Harrell, III; his 8 granddaughters, Olivia Harrell, Amber Harrell, McKenzie McBee-Coutreyer, Erica Harrell, November Harrell, Elizabeth Harrell, Kenley Harrell, and Katey Harrell; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. At the end of his earthly journey, Charlie was welcomed into Heaven and reunited with his parents, William Montel and Dorothy Jones; his siblings, William Jones and Dorothy Francis; his mother-in-law, Mary Trachsel; his brother-in-law, Tom Trachsel; and his stepson, Douglas Harrell. A private memorial service is being held by his family at their home in Chesterfield, VA.
