Obituary

Charles William Kish, Sr., 82, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014. Born March 3, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Grace Kish of Wheeling, WV, and was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Gertrude. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Louise Peters Kish; three sons, Rick (Susan), Charlie, Jr. (Lisa) of Chesterfield, VA, and John (Karin) of Chesapeake, VA; his grandchildren who gave him so much joy, Kevin, Andy, Ryan, Derek, Hannah, Tony, Nathan, and Abbey; his brother, John (Eleanor) Kish; his cousin, Jack Syphers of Warwood, WV; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends. Charlie made a career in the retail industry for over 40 years. He was a faithful and enthusiastic member of Branch’s Baptist Church, the Fellowship Committee, and his Sunday School class. An avid golfer, Charlie truly enjoyed his golf game at Meadowbrook Country Club and wonderful courses beyond. Sports were the high point of his spare time, and nothing pleased him more than cheering on his West Virginia Mountaineers. In fact, according to him, West Virginia was “almost Heaven.” The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 28th, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29th, at Branch’s Baptist Church, 3400 Broad Rock Blvd. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060, or Branch’s Baptist Church, 3400 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, VA 23234.
