Obituary

Charley Carroll Wilson, Jr., 41, of Powhatan, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Charley was born on October 1, 1983, in Chesterfield, VA, as the oldest child of Charley Wilson, Sr. and Ellen Chumney Wilson. He attended Chesterfield County public schools and graduated from Manchester High School in 2001.

Charley pursued a degree in Forensic Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, before switching career paths by accepting a position with Ferguson Industrial in 2008. In his 16 years with Ferguson, Charley worked his way up from pump specialist to an outside sales representative, excelling because of his strong work ethic and technical skills on the job. Charley’s love for his company, coworkers, and customers was unparalleled.

Charley began dating the love of his life, Meghan, in 2007, and they were married five years later on September 29, 2012. Together they had two beautiful children: Gavin in 2013 and Reese in 2015. They resided in Chesterfield, VA, before moving to Powhatan, VA, in October 2024.

Charley’s passions included hunting, fishing, watching sports, playing mediocre rounds of golf, listening to “folksy hipster music” (according to his wife), spending hours meticulously cutting the grass, splashing everyone swimming in his parents’ pool, enjoying a good whiskey or IPA by the firepit, eating popcorn (including the kernels!), playing tag with Reese, and recklessly kicking the soccer ball in the house with Gavin. He also enjoyed any opportunity to socialize with friends over drinks, food, and live music.

Charley is survived by his wife of 12 years, Meghan Wirt Wilson; their two children, Gavin (11) and Reese (9); his parents, Charley, Sr. and Ellen; his sister, Ashley; his Ferguson family; and countless other friends and family who will miss his carefree personality and big hugs.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, June 18, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Morrissett Funeral Home (6500 Iron Bridge Road, Richmond, VA 23234). A funeral service will be held at Morrissett Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19, at 11:30 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at Sunset Memorial Park (2901 W Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831).

Charley lived and loved fiercely, so in his honor we ask that you drink a beer, listen to a good song, and hug your loved ones a little tighter.
