Obituary

Cheree Mechele Capps, 51, of Chester, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Cheree was known as Reeree to her family. If you knew Reeree, you know she was the most kind, positive, loving person. She always would make certain to care for others before herself.

Reeree was an extremely hard and dedicated coworker. She started working at 18 and spent 33 years working for Overnite Transportation (which later became UPS Freight and now TForce freight). She served as a Central OS&D Control Specialist. She absolutely loved and cared very deeply for all of her Overnite Family. Reeree also spent 20 years working at Capital One as a ECU Senior Coordinator. Just as she did at Overnite she created a family with everyone who worked near and around her. When not at work she loved spending time with her family and would always drop everything to help out anyone in need. Reeree loved spending time reading books. As soon as the time was right, Reeree would open up her pool and absolutely enjoyed reading at, in and around the pool.  She loved hosting her family and friends and we enjoyed some amazing pool parties together.

Reeree was the ultimate caregiver and even at a young age she always looked after her two younger brothers. Over the years, she spent time caring for her nieces and nephews. Reeree touched so many lives and we will be forever grateful and cherish every single moment we were together. Reeree was an Angel on earth she is now an Angel in Heaven.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Carolyn Capps. Reeree is survived by her siblings, Chris Capps (Suzanne), Johnny Capps, Jr. (Tina), Allyson Bowling, and Belinda Nichols (LC); nieces & nephews, Kristyn Ward (Chris), David Bowling, Tyler Bowling, Trey Nichols (Becky), Shannon Webb, April Harris (Chad), Courtnee Capps, Kayla Gilchrist (Joe), CJ Capps, Andrea Capps, Allysa Capps, Jude Capps, and Ayden Capps; great nieces & nephews, Kaitlyn Ward, Kara Ward, Greyson Nichols, Hendrix Nichols, Grayson Hill, Lillian Hill, and Adalyn Harris; cousins, Tammy Castellanos, Ella Castellanos, and Victoria Gentry (Jesse); uncle, John Payne (Gina); and aunt, Gwen Barlow (Wayne).

Reeree’s family will receive friends one hour prior her funeral service that will start at 5:00 pm on Friday, February 4 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. A private graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery in Chatham, VA. Online condolences at www.morrissett.com

My heart felt prayers are with the family, I worked with Cheree at Overnite. She was such a sweet soul. God gained another angel.

  3. My heart goes out to Cheree’s family. Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting her in person, I have had many phone conversations with her at work. She never failed to ask me how my daughter’s cancer is doing. I know Cheree will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

  4. My sweet dear friend, I am saddened to hear of your passing. You always accepted me and showed unconditional love and support. My heart is very heavy today, yet I know we have the promise of the resurrection and in time we will all reunite. Rest well my dear friend, till paradise.
