Obituary

Crystal Oldham Oney was born on October 3, 1969, and was tragically taken from this world on March 15th, 2026. She was an amazing teacher who absolutely loved all her students, and she cherished her children and grandbabies more than anything in this world. Crystal’s three children—Christopher Michael Oney, Nicholas Todd Oney, and Brittany Elizabeth Oney—and her beloved grandchildren, Lillie-Rae Elizabeth Russell, Briley Michael Armstrong, LeeLand Oaks Oney, and Henry-Jack Emerson Oney (who she named), were the light of her life. She was also survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Michael Lee Oney, and her mother, Judy Gay Oldham and father-in-law, Charles Bradby. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Kathy Bradby.

Crystal was one of the most intelligent and caring women you could ever meet. She had a huge impact on everyone around her, lighting up any room and making anyone smile.

Crystal’s family will receive guests from 11:30 am-12:30 pm with her funeral service to follow at 12:30 pm on Thursday, March 26 at Buford Road Baptist Church, 819 Buford Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23235. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park.

    Dear Family of Mrs. Oney,
I am reaching out to share my deepest sympathies during this incredibly difficult time. I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Mrs. Oney, and I wanted you to know how much she meant to my family. She was an extraordinary educator to my son, Adeyemi, and I am so grateful for the time he spent in her classroom. He learned so much under her guidance, but beyond the lessons, it was her unwavering kindness that truly made an impact on him. She had a beautiful way of making her students feel seen and valued every single day. Our thoughts and hearts are with you and your family as you all navigate this sudden loss.

    My deepest sympathy,
    Amina and Adeyemi Ahmed
