Obituary

Curtis Dungans, 92, of Chesterfield, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024. He is survived by his son, Wayne Garber and his wife, Mary; sister, Ellen Pearce; grandson, Matthew Garber (Lauren); granddaughters, Carey Lehner (Rob) and Amanda Satterwhite (Ryan); and great-grandchildren, Asher, Jack, Charlotte, Emmet, Isabelle, Penelope, and Corbin. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lee Dungans; parents, Ohna Mae and Leon Dungans; sisters, Louise Robinson, Mae High, and Ruth Hudson; and brother, Herbert Dungans. Curtis was a 36-year Veteran of the Virginia National Guard where he served as a parts manager. After retiring from the National Guard, Curtis worked for the Defense Supply Center for two years. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending his time doing volunteer work to include, Bus Driver for Lucy Corr Nursing Home, delivering for Meals on Wheels and a volunteer driver with the Shephard’s Center of Chesterfield. Curtis and Mary enjoyed traveling, especially to Lancaster Pennsylvania for the scenery and good food. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am with his funeral service starting at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 18, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
