We will miss you so much. You were so involved in my life and the lives of my kids and grandkids.
I know how much Ashley loved you coming to all of her softball games, graduations, proms, wedding, gender reveals, etc. You always bragged about her pitching to your friends. You and I would stand behind home plate and you were so thrilled to watch her.
You & Dallas shared the love of baseball and he learned so much from you. I know you were so proud of what a good player he was. I loved the passion you had in teaching him your skills. I was always so proud to share the story with many people that you almost made the NY Yankees team.
Garrett “G-Man” as you always called him, adores you and the many hours you spent coaching his baseball team, playing video games, and one of the most memorable trips to New York. I love the song that you wrote and sang for his high school project. The teacher asked to use it for all of his future classes. It was so professional.
I cherish the video of you playing your guitar and singing “Sweet Caroline” to Caroline. She was always so tickled when you did that.
I loved it when you gave Dean “high 5s”. He would have to jump with all his might to reach your hand.
Kenny will miss his many conversations with you at our holiday events and your competitiveness at anything y’all played together from cornhole, ping pong to pool.
You were always such a good husband and I have always been thankful for that. I will miss hearing you call her “Sug” and when she called you answering “Hello Moto”. You always had a huge sense of humor.
I know your golf buddies will miss you on the green! I found an entire box of your scorecards and another box of golf tees. I will miss buying you your annual Christmas gift of two boxes of Titleist. I hated doing that because I thought it was such a boring gift but you loved them!!!!!!
Everyone that you crossed paths with have only had good things to say about you. First thing they said was that you were so sweet!
Your family will miss you dearly. Christmas Day was very hard to say the least. The only thing we could hang on to was that you were free of all your pain and suffering.
I have tried many times to listen to Bob Dylan since you liked him so much so perhaps I will put on one of his songs tonight.
Rest in Peace sweet, gentle man.
I love you.
Stacey

I guess I had not seen Dave in close to 40 years but reading the obit it kind of seemed like an old Jackson Browne song that goes “until I heard the sudden words that a friend of mine was dead”. Our story started in the West End, where I, freshly back from Vietnam, and with a desire to play the strange game of golf came in contact with Dave and we, along with a couple other guys made Oak Hill our weekend hang out. I met Linda and his brother (maybe that`s why I thought of Jackson Browne as his brother played the guitar and had a few JB songs in his repertoire) and mother along the way. Somehow life intervened and we drifted apart but I always considered him a good friend.
Rest in peace Dave. I pray we`ll see each other in Heavenly Paradise.
