Obituary
David Palmer Morris, 68, of N. Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Born on February 5, 1956, in Richmond, Virginia to James Carl and Frances Parrott Morris. David graduated in 1974 from Meadowbrook High School and continued his education in Ferrum, Virginia. During his youth, David participated in the Boy Scouts of America, where he proudly earned his Eagle Scout. In 1978, David achieved his Associate Science Certificate in Environmental Science from Ferrum College. After college, he returned to Chesterfield, where he worked at Pleasants Hardware from 1979-1994. He retired from South Central Wastewater Authority after 25 years. David enjoyed spending his time outdoors, many days you could find him hunting, fishing or taking the boat on the water. Along with the joys of his life, David was a dedicated volunteer firefighter and from 1989-1994 he volunteered at the Chester Station in Chesterfield County.
David was preceded in death by his father, James Carl Morris, and niece, Carla Morris Gormley. He is survived by his mother, Frances Parrott Morris; brother, James “Jim” Carl Morris, Jr. (Cheryl); uncle, Robert Howell Morris (Jean); niece, Abby Morris Rickel (AJ); nephew, James Carl Morris IV; great nephew, Micheal Patrick Gormley; great niece, Molly Jo Rickel; and great nephew, Logan Charles Rickel.
David’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 23 at Branch’s Baptist Church, 3400 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, VA 23234. Interment to follow at Branch’s Baptist Church Cemetery.
