Obituary

David Roberts (55) of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 26, 2019, surrounded by family and close friends, due to complications from lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bays and Narva Roberts of Richmond, VA. He is survived by his wife, Trish Roberts, and their dogs, Cash and Berkeley; his children, Alex Roberts (Daniel Powers) and Cole Roberts; and his step-children, Brandy Lester, Ali Smith, and Lee Smith. Grandchildren Tristan, Aiden, and Brooke Lester. He was the youngest of three sisters, Susan Hawthorne (Jay) of Asheville, NC, Kathy Weaver of Richmond, VA, and Nancy Hawthorne (Hugh) of Chesterfield, VA. He cherished his nieces and nephews; Mike Early (Jackie), Auburn Stovall (Scott), Morgan Smith (Jason), Hugh Hawthorne (Erin), Wes Hawthorne (Stephanie), Todd Hawthorne (Dena), Tyler Hawthorne (Kaighly), and Julie Stella (Tony). David loved his extended family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He attended Huguenot Academy and Virginia Tech in the Engineering Program. David worked for 33 years at Excalibur and Landfall E.R. LLC for his beloved brother-in-law, Hugh Hawthorne, and his work family, Craig Mitchell, Rabbit Jackson, Lee Withers, Jason Smith, John Davis, and many others. For many years, David coached basketball, baseball, and softball for Jacobs Athletic Association, making many life-long friends. David loved the beaches of the Outer Banks and spent many summers surrounded by family and friends building sand sculptures, riding go-karts, fishing, and enjoying local seafood. David was honored to have many dear friends, and those closest to his heart were his best buds; Chris Burns, Jeff and Susan Davis, Chip Pasker, Lee Withers, Rob and Kimmi Barker, and Doug Pritchard. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, August 2nd from 6-8pm at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, N. Chesterfield, VA 23234.
