Although this is such a heartbreaking time for family and friends. We should all be thankful for the time we spent with Dennis. General George S Patton once said, It’s foolish and wrong to mourn the death of a man. Rather we should thank God that such a man lived. These are true words about Sheriff Dennis Proffitt, a great leader, role model and a even better friend!! RIP Sheriff 🙏 CSO 142

  4. My condolences to you and family, I met Mr. Proffitt through my dad and his brothers, my uncles. They had all experienced stays at the jail, and had a deep respect for your Dad, just as I do. I encountered some tribulation and was definitively in fear for my future. Your dad, Sheriff Proffitt met me on my court day, and mentored me in the main area of the courthouse. He didnt have to do that for this frightening, ashamed, and uncertain individual that I was, he chose to ! and for that I will be forever grateful to not only the man, and leader your father is, but the criminal justice system in itself.
Mr.Proffitt my homage and highest respects to you sir. Fly high
