Obituary
Diane Joan Weedon, 87, of Richmond, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 16, 2022. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50+ years, Gene Clyde Weedon. She is survived by her two sisters, Barbara Syzmanski (John), and Carole Gatto (Ken); brother, Herbert Decker (Barbara); daughter, Mary-Beth Geiger (Mike); two sons, Michael Weedon (Dr. Sibylle Kranz), Paul Weedon (Desiree Guardado); grandsons, Alex Weedon (Thais), Ryan Goode, and Carter Weedon; two granddaughters, Sydney Gwaltney (Alex) and Kaitlyn Guardado. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Omega aka “Mega”. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and adoring grandmother. She was a true friend to anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Diane was a world traveler and visited 100 countries in 6 continents with her husband, Gene. She was an avid football fan and followed the Washington Redskins faithfully. She was an orginal founding member of “The Girls Club” with her daughter and grandaughter for their occasional shopping trips. She loved playing bridge with friends, sewing, and crossword puzzles in her free time. More than anything, she loved her family and they loved her endlessly. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service. She will be entombed at Dale Memorial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Richmond Animal League (https://www.ral.org/index.php/donation) in her name.

Katie and I feel we have lost our dearest friend. Diane was the kindest, most happy person we knew here at The Crossings at Bon Air, our retirement home. She recently moved to a facility closer to her family and was thrilled at what it offered her.
She was a master seamstress and kept everyone’s hems properly done. In addition, she was an avid bridge player and the best scorekeeper we could have had.

Tom and Katie thank you for your kind words. You were dear friends of my mom. She only wished she could have taken you with her when she moved. She loved playing bridge with you, exchanging good books, eating dinner together and Sunday football rivalry. I just want you to know how much you meant to her. She really cared and loved you both.

Diane was my mother’s best friend for decades. They played cards together, traveled the world together and enjoyed shopping . I have fond memories of her from my childhood and always enjoyed seeing her for she always had a beautiful smile and friendly spirit. Our family is deeply saddened to hear of her passing. MaryBeth, Michael and Paul, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you, Susan. I really appreciate your kind words. Yes, our mom’s were best friends and my mom had missed her terribly. Our parents played bridge together for as long back as I can remember. Now that my mom has joined them, they have a 4th for bridge.
