Obituary

Diantha Denike Yancey (Dee Dee), 77, of Chesterfield, VA went home to be with the Lord on October 20, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Yancey; and parents, Helene and Tracy Denike. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Dejarnette (Nick); son, Bobby Yancey Jr. (Kathy); grandchildren, Madison and Noah; sister, Suzanne Wittersheim; brother and sister-in-law Chick and Nancy Denike; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. She loved children and was a director at Tuckaway Child Development Center and Chester Child Development Center, and an office administrator at Rivers Bend Children’s Center, where she developed unique learning activities and countless summer camps and arts shows that were loved by all. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was passionate about sharing God’s love to everyone she met, especially God’s children. She enjoyed serving in the church’s many children’s ministries and Vacation Bible School where she directed, provided arts and crafts, and shared unique opportunities for the children; she faithfully attended Sunday school with many years of perfect attendance. She organized, created stages, and made costumes for Christmas Nativity pageants for her church and various children’s centers for many years; her ambition and creativity were endless. She always had at least one camera close by to capture pictures of all events she attended and then spent many hours scrapbooking these memories to share with family, friends, children, and others. She generously collected many items for future missions projects so she could be prepared whenever she learned of a need. She enjoyed socializing and scrapbooking with family and friends and was available to listen when needed. Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm on Sunday, October 29^th, 2023 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, N. Chesterfield. A graveside service will be held at 3pm Monday, October 30^th, 2023 at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Gideons International.
