Obituary

Lind-Clarke, Dolores, 71, of Chesterfield, passed away Monday, January 19, 2009, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind her very devoted and loving daughter, Mary Poreau; sister, Mary Flexer and her husband, Harry, of Volusia, FL, and their children; an extremely long-time friend, Joanne Reemsten; her daughter and Dolores’ god-child, Jade McKee-Pate; Teresa Oley and daughters, Chawanta and Leah Fortune; another loving and long-time friend, Rea Lind Campbell; and dear friend, Jean Marrow. Other family members we wish not to forget are Leonard Lee Junie Clarke and Lenny Clarke, also her niece Lisa Pope and numerous other nieces. Dolores retired from Philip Morris in November of 1985. She worked later for a family-owned business as a buyer for Hampton House, a bridal-registry and antique shop, until February 2008. Dolores was a loving mother to her daughter, Mary, as well as a true and loving friend and so much more to those she leaves behind. She was a woman who had much strength, which was all developed by her love for God and Jesus Christ, our Lord. We would be amiss if Rev. Msgr. Michael S.C. Schmeid went unmentioned as a dear and close friend and counselor in Christ. Dolores had many loves in life; her main love of late was to spend time with friends, but when unable, her dogs were her main love and source of immense comfort. With women in our lives like Dolores, we will still continue to draw from her immense strength and love of Christ. Words cannot express how much she will truly be missed. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
