Obituary

Doris Mae Texter, 91, of N. Chesterfield, VA, was called home by our heavenly Father on Tuesday November 2, 2021. Mama, our sweet angel, was a strong woman who fiercely loved her family and was a devout Christian. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a faithful prayer warrior.

Doris was born in Washington, D.C., but later moved to Richmond. In the late 1950’s she moved with her family to Chesterfield. Doris worked in packaging at American Filtrona Company for 23 years. After retirement, she enjoyed spending the majority of her time with her three daughters and their families.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Jones and Ethel Morris; sister, Peggy Hollub, brother, Raleigh Blankenship; and son-in-law, Leonard E. Starr III. Doris is survived by her daughters, Shirley T. Starr, Jackie T. Blackstock (Tom), and Bonnie T. Turner; grandsons, Mathew Starr, Jeffrey Blackstock, David Starr, Eric Blackstock, Michael Parrish and Christopher Parrish and their father, Wray Parrish; great-grandchildren Ethan Parrish, James Starr, Elliott Starr, Eliana Parrish, and Robert Starr; and numerous extended family and friends.

She was a wise and generous woman who had a great sense of humor. She also shared a love of NASCAR with her grandson Jeffrey.

We were blessed to have her as our Mama. We loved her with all our hearts and are comforted knowing she is now with Jesus. We treasured our time with her and will forever miss her until we see her again.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with a service to follow at 12:00 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Iron Bridge Baptist Church, 10900 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23831. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park.
