Dorothy was the only child of the late Linwood Earl and Estelle H. Powell. She was a native of Richmond and grew up on 29th Street. She graduated from John Marshall High School, class of 1951, where she was the 1950 Fall Band Sponsor. In addition to being a full-time homemaker, Dot supported her husband as he operated the Morrissett Funeral Home. She enjoyed playing cards with family, bowling with the Tuesday Night Fellowship League, playing golf at the Meadowbrook Country Club, and cards with the MCC Thursday Morning Women’s Group. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 19th at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10). A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 20th at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. The family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060.
