Obituary

Dorothy Leneave Smith, “Dot,” 77, of Chesterfield, VA. passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She is preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” A. Leneave, Sr., mother Helen M. Leneave, and brother Wayne C. Leneave. Dot loved her children and grandchildren, her flower gardening with her son Keith, helped form Jacob’s Road Athletics Association, was manager of the Chesterfield County Fair Association for 7 years, and She was a 4-H leader.

 

She is survived by her husband, James Lewis Smith, Jr., and sons, Keith Saunders (Gina), James “Jamie” Smith III (Audra), Chris Smith (Marion), Paul Smith (Gayle); 14 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Robert, Billy, and Danny; and special friends, Steve, David, and Buck.

 

The family will receive friends from 4pm-8pm on Sunday, August 6th, 2023 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, N. Chesterfield. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am Monday, August 7th, 2023 at Hopewell Methodist Church, 6200 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832 with burial at the church’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hopewell Methodist Church.

  4. Dot- you and Lewis were like second parents to me and I will be forever grateful for all you have done throughout my life, helping to shape me into the person I am today. The life lessons, unconditional love and support over the years has been more than anyone could ask for. I am so thankful to have had you in my life and you sharing your wonderful family with mine. Lewis and all the family, I am so, so sorry for your loss but hope we all can find comfort knowing Dot is in Heaven in a new body free of earthly issues.
