Obituary

Dorothy was a woman of strong faith who did not fear death.  Her long, painful path though dementia is over.  We are certain that she is happy to have lived through this ordeal and moved on to her place in heaven.

Born in Dudley’s Crossroads, North Carolina, her family moved to Hampton, Virginia when she was a small child.  She met her first husband, Bob Goodrich (deceased), in high school.  They subsequently raised three children; Susan Goodrich Connock (deceased), Sherri Goodrich Cooper and Bob Goodrich, Jr.  We are all grateful for the love, encouragement and support our mother provided through the years.

Dorothy married twice more to Tom Mumford (deceased) and, last, to Ed O’Connor (deceased).  Both marriages provided her the love and companionship we all need.

While she enjoyed traveling, her home was where she was happiest.  Thanks to her last husband, Ed O’Connor, she was fortunate to have been able to live in her home until she needed professional help.  We are grateful to the staff at Ginter Hall South who provided such excellent care for our mother. A family service will be held.

Dot was so pretty and such a classy lady, but more importantly, she was beautiful on the inside. She had such a strong faith. I know you will miss her tremendously. May you find comfort in knowing she surely felt your love and care to the end and in your happy memories.
