Description

Dorothy, “Dot,” West (94) went to be with the Lord and all the loved ones in heaven who proceeded her in death, most especially her son Nukey, her great granddaughter Katie, her brothers Buster, Tommy and sister Hazel, and her parents Susie and Ben. Known most affectionately as “Nannie Dot,” she leaves behind her loving family—daughter Carolyn (John), daughter in law Linda; grandchildren Gary, Kim, Lisa, Michelle, and Jonathan; her beloved great grandchildren Dillon, Lexi, Kara and Abby (Sparkle & Shine) and the blonde squad—Madison, Peyton, Emmerson and Britton. She will be missed by her sisters and brother—Laverne, Eloise and Malcolm who kept watch over her whether by daily phone calls or special visits. To her neighbors, Patrick and Barbara, who regularly checked on her, brought her mail and provided companionship—your kindness was a blessing. Nannie Dot will be forever remembered for her incredible strength, determination, independence and stubborn streak. None of us will be able to drive by a McDonalds without thinking we should order a sausage biscuit and senior citizen coffee with two creams, a Chick fil A without wanting to order an egg bowl and 12 pack of nuggets, or flip through the channels without stopping at the Nascar race of the week—all of these Nannie Dot’s favorite things. She set the bar for Girl Power and stayed true to Pulley Strong all the way to the end of her days. She defied the predictions of her terminal cancer diagnosis by outliving the doctor’s timeline. She lived life HER WAY, and she left the world only when she was ready. The family would like to thank those who supported her with loving care during the last days of her life—Visiting Angels who were truly her angels on earth-Brianna (Kiwi) who spent each day with her along with her other regular caregivers Lucy, Willa, Andrea and Jamie. And to Encompass Hospice Services who helped her understand that it was time to allow those around her to offer comfort and care—especially Chaplain Rhonda and her nurses Virginia and Debbie. Friends may visit from 10 am to 11 am on Thursday, June 13 with a funeral service starting at 11 am at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial

contributions may be made through her memorial page www.inmemof.org/dorothy-west.
