Obituary

Dorothy Williams House, 89, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was born on July 26, 1936 in Branchville, Virginia to the late Thurman Hassell Williams and Janie Rebecca Clay. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Harrison House, Sr.; sister, Phyllis Williams Throckmorton; and brother, John E. Williams.

Although she never held a job outside the home, Dorothy’s work was immeasurable and her impact on her family and friends undeniable. She was a loving sister to her three siblings and a devoted wife to her husband. She had strong bonds with many of her extended family including numerous cousins and aunts/uncles. She built her life around caring for her family; raising three children and caring for numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her home was always filled with love, care and good food. Her faith was quiet but strong and her love unconditional. Dorthy’s life was not written in resumes, awards, or books but in the hearts of those who knew her as Mema.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Becky Brooks (Ken); sons, John House (Mary and family) and Craig House (Brandie); grandsons: Brandon Brooks (Addie), Travis Brooks (Britney), Brandon Cantwell (Amber), Noah House, and Jackson House; granddaughters, Lauren Shaulis (Brad), Brittney House, Madison Ellen (Julius); great grandchildren: Katie Jackson (Tommy), Jake Brooks, William Brooks, Hannah Brooks, Hazel Shaulis, Harrison Shaulis, Harper Shaulis; Alexis Brooks; Paisley Brooks, Tulsi Cantwell, and Reagan Cantwell; great great grandchildren, Chesney Jackson and Bryer Jackson; and brother, Thurman ;(“Sonny”) Williams (Carroll “Tinker”) and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. Her funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832. Reception to follow at Beulah Church 6930 Hopkins Road North Chesterfield, VA 23234 from 3:00-5:00. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her name to Beulah Church.
