Obituary
Dorsey Thomas Brannock, Sr., 89, of Chesterfield, VA left this earth after a brief battle with cancer on February 22, 2020, to be reunited with his loving wife, Mary of 52 years, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, children Thomas (Lori), Mark (Carrie), Jodi (Michael); eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister; and a companion and loving friend Peggy Seay. Dorsey was born to Orville and Ada Brannock on November 1, 1930 in Galax, VA. After over 40 years of service he retired from Martin/Whitlow Chevrolet as an auto body mechanic. He retired to the Outer Banks, NC on the bay of the Northern Neck before settling back in Chesterfield. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing golf, saltwater fishing, duck hunting, and most Friday nights you would find him dancing with friends. He was a simple but loving family man and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 27 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Dorsey”s funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 28 at the Morrissett Chapel. Interment private.

Dear Thomas, Mark, Jodi, and their families,
I am sorry that you have had to say goodbye to your Dad. He was a precious soul and has left you big shoes to fill. He represents the end of an era – the last of my 11 uncles to be called home. My prayers and good wishes go with you at this time and I look forward to seeing you and telling you in person at his interment in North Wilkesboro.

Meet Dorsey several years ago when I start going to Friday night Dance at Quarles. I always set at the same table, and always enjoyed our conversations. Dorsey use to go my Myrtle’s home and pick her up, before I meet her. When he was in the hospital the two of us would go by and see him, The two of us will always miss him.

I regret that I’m unable to attend the services for Dorsey,
although in January I had the opportunity to visit with Dorsey in Chippenham Hospital. On that day Dorsey was Dorsey as he always wants. There were no signs of any visible or verbal complaints of his illness.
I met Dorsey January 5, 1965, when I started employment with Martin Chevrolet. I work with Dorsey side-by-side and later in my career Dorsey became one of my employees.
Dorsey will always remain in the upper 10 employees I had the pleasure of supervising over hundreds employees during my years with Martin / Whitlow Chevrolet. There was never an employee that compare to Dorsey. He never complained, never turn down on assignment, was always willing to do the right thing.
When Dorsey retired the first time, I told Dorsey there was always a place for him and he took me up on it many times. Dorsey love to work and got pleasure out of using his skills repairing automobiles.
I spent many an hour around Dorsey and grew to know how special a person he really was.
Dorsey truly loved his family and wife Mary, providing for them First.
Dorsey was unselfish person who thought about others and their needs, often putting their needs before his own needs.
Dorsey’s politeness, respectful and considerate towards others. Making Dorsey approachable, friendly and easy to talk to.
Dorsey was a true friend, outstanding employee and truly missed
