Obituary
Edward “Ed” Britton, 74, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 25, 2026, in North Chesterfield, Virginia.
Ed was born on July 12, 1952, in Virginia to Edward Britton, Sr. and Catherine Rice.
Above all else, Ed loved the Lord. His life was a testimony to God’s grace, and he faithfully sought to honor Christ in the way he lived and treated others. He praised the Lord each day and never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel and encourage others with the good news of Jesus Christ. Ed believed that everyone deserved another chance because he understood the mercy and forgiveness that God had shown him. Whether it was a second, third, or fourth chance, he was always willing to extend grace and believe in the best in people.
Known for his gentle spirit and kind heart, Ed never met a stranger. He welcomed everyone with warmth, compassion, and a listening ear. A hardworking man with a servant’s heart, he consistently placed the needs of others before his own. His quiet strength, steadfast faith, and Christlike love left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Ana Britton of North Chesterfield; son, Edward Britton; daughter, Michelle Britton; stepdaughters, Tiana Galindez and Whitney Morris; sisters, Nancy Allen and Jacqueline Britton; brother, Joseph Britton; several cherished grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Britton, Sr.; his mother, Catherine Rice; and his brother, William Britton.
A visitation for Ed will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, Virginia, 23234, with a funeral service honoring Ed’s life and legacy to follow.
While our hearts grieve his passing, we do not grieve without hope. Because Ed placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ, his family rejoices in the promise that he is now at home with the Lord. They find comfort in the words of Jesus from John 14:1-3:
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” — John 14:1-3 (KJV)
Though Ed will be greatly missed, his family rejoices in the assurance that this is not goodbye, but “until we meet again.” His legacy of unwavering faith, Christlike love, kindness, and steadfast devotion to the Lord will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him. To God be the glory.
