Obituary

Edward “Skip” Miller, 70, of Chester, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Skip was born on August 14, 1954, in Clarendon, South Carolina to Leon and Bertie Lee. He met his beloved wife on the basketball court and together they built a wonderful life. Following his retirement from Jamaica Hospital in Queens, New York, the family relocated to Chester, Virginia to be close to his daughter. Skip could often be found with a fishing rod in hand, casting a line into quiet waters. He also had a fondness for scratch-off lotto tickets, always chasing that next lucky win with a hopeful smile and a quarter ready to go. Whether he won big or just a free ticket, it was the thrill of the game and ritual he enjoyed.

Skip preceded in death by his parents, Leon Miller and Bertie Miller, and brothers, Leon Miller, James Earl Miller and Larry Miller. He is survived by his wife, Lydia Miller; children, Jermaine Edward Miller, Lawana Monique Miller (Dashein Holmes), Sheril Ryan, and Shaun Corbett (Shenequa Corbett); grandchildren, Kalik Carlton, Kiara Dunning, Kayla Homes, Octavia Miller, Tarik Randers, Zhamiek Van Dyke, Khaliah, Kyree, Samire, and Avianna Corbett; great-granddaughter, Emora Miller; and siblings, Eula Pugh, Ruth Pugh (David Pugh), Dorothy Mae Pugh, Harry Lee Miller (Miriam Torres), Carolyn Miller, and Sharon Myers. The family will receive guests from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with Skip’s funeral service starting at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20th at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234.
