Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Collier from Surry County, daughter of the late Dr. Charles Chamberlain and Barbara Talley Chamberlain, passed on Friday, December 18, 2020, surrounded by loved ones on her family farm on Hickory Hill Road.
She was the beloved wife of Roger Bishop Collier Sr., mother of Roger Jr., Adam, and Joseph, mother-in-law to Whitney, Lauren and Alberto, and grandmother to Eliza and Averrett and sister to Carol, Mary Anne, Laura, and the late William Chamberlain. She adored her family wholeheartedly and made everyone else feel like they were a part of it.
A farmer at heart, Betty was also a dispatcher for the Surry County Sheriff”™s Office for over twenty years. She was a member of the Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad, a beautician in Waverly, and number one fan of tractor pulling.
Socially-distant, visitation hours will be observed on Monday, December 21, from 5pm to 8pm at Carsley United Methodist Church, located at 5609 Carsley Road in Carsley, Virginia.
Following Covid guidelines, visitation hours will only allow two people at a time. Please remain in your vehicle and await further instruction. Masks required.
