Obituary

Eugene Anthony Gray, 66, of Chester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia.

Born on May 7, 1960, in Norfolk, Virginia, Eugene was the beloved son of the late Gladys Irene Gray. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. Eugene was especially dedicated to his grandchildren, faithfully supporting their activities, cheering proudly at his grandkids’ baseball games, gymnastics, soccer, basketball, and creating cherished memories with those he loved most.

Eugene enjoyed playing pool and frequently participated in tournaments alongside his stepson, Kristian. He was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Virginia, Class of 1978. He later attended Norfolk State University, Class of 1983, as well as the Florida Institute of Technology at the Jensen Beach campus. Though originally from Norfolk, Eugene later made Chester, Virginia, his home.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Narcisa Gray; daughter, Kaila Jones; stepdaughters, Laarni Bibal and Karen Taguinod; stepsons, Kristian Taguinod and his wife Corina Taguinod, Kenneth Taguinod and his wife Keziah Taguinod, and Kerrjim Taguinod; grandchildren, Khian, Kaiden, Katherine, Kenzo, Karlisle, and Kirkson Taguinod, Cedric and Patrick Funtila, and Joseph Jones; siblings, Joyce Pope, Patricia White, Darlene Gray, and James Gray; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Eugene’s warmth, kindness, love for family, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitations and Funeral Services

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, Virginia 23234.

A second visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the funeral home.

A final visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, followed immediately by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service.
