Obituary

Evelyn “Sue” Baker of Richmond, VA was born in 1940 and grew up in Coalwood, West Virginia, where she was raised by Leta and Walter Jones with her four sisters Carolyn, Margie, Jo Lynn, and Cynthia. She married Darrell Baker of Coalwood and moved to Richmond, where they raised two sons, Tony and Marty.

Sue and Darrell were happily married until Darrell’s death in May 1994. She was grandmother to Nathan, Aaron, Joshua, and Christina and just recently became a great-grandmother to Gemma.

Sue was more than just a wife, mother, and grandmother; she was the matriarch of our family and the one everyone looked up to for unconditional love, comfort, and support. She gave everything she had to help anyone in our family in need. In many cases, she did without to make sure everyone else’s needs were met. She was the caregiver of her oldest adult son and provided for him up to the day of her death.

Sue was the type of person that, if you ever wanted to know what goodness was in the world, all you had to do was be blessed enough to know her.

Mom, you will be missed. We all love you and you are a true saint in our eyes. If anyone in this world is deserving of Heaven, it is you. In you, God created a masterpiece. Thank you for a lifetime of support and love. Go into God’s green pasture. Be happy and at peace.

Friends may visit from 6 to 7 pm on Monday, September 2 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Sue’s graveside service will be held at 1 pm at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newby’s Bridge Rd., Chesterfield, VA.
