Obituary

Fredrick Layne Sargent, born on May 16, 1968, in Ottumwa, Iowa, passed away on July 11, 2024, in Chester, VA. He dedicated 30 years of his career in telecommunications, working diligently at both AT&T and Verizon.

Fredrick was a man of deep faith, a trait he inherited from his mother, Della Sargent, who preceded him in death. His life was a reflection of his strong, passionate, caring, and dedicated nature. He was an amazing father with an infectious laugh that brought joy to those around him. Fredrick’s interests were as diverse as his personality, ranging from family activities to swimming, running marathons, engaging in various sports, watching movies, enjoying opera, and traveling.

He is survived by his fiancée, Angie Evans; his children, Clayton Sargent (Vicky), Danielle Pflumm (Keith), Renah Sargent, Cody Stoher, Ryan Stoher, and Missy Broadhurst (Phillip); his father, Jerry Sargent; his siblings, Sherri Sargent (Holly), Jeff Sargent (Steve), and Sheila Devereux; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Services to celebrate Fredrick’s life will be held at Vineyard Church on July 27, located at 12300 Arrowhead Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64165, at 11 am. The family is being assisted by Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service in Richmond, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude or Veterans Assistance in memory of Fredrick.
