Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. We appreciate the support and kindness shown during this difficult time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at 804-275-7828 or e-mail to Staff@Morrissett.com

My Dearest Aunt Gail, you will sorely be missed. It was destined for us to be related as you are not only my Aunt, having married my mother’s brother, but 1st my cousin, being my Dad’s niece. So either way you were destined to be in my life. I will forever remember your soft spoken and gentle nature, your contagious laugh, your eye rolls whenever Lil Frank or Sean would do something silly, and just our conversations about life. You were dealt many cards that you didn’t deserve, but God never said this life would be free of strife. You never complained and fought a good fight. I am resting in knowing that you are no longer in pain, rather you are in a place that we can only hope to join you in. I’ve pictured Uncle Kojak, Aunt Ernestine, Calvin, and Lil George greeting you with open arms. I will not say good-bye, but see you later. Sean and Lil Frank will be okay. They have us, and most importantly they have God. May your spirit rest in peace.
Love Always, Kim

To the Family of Gail Ross Booker:
Our deepest condolences to your family. We knew Gail as a little girl and her brothers. My husband CSM(Ret) Thomas Booker (Putty) came from the same neighborhood and grew up with her mother and father.
We pray for God’s strength to surround you at this difficult time.
With Love & prayers, Thomas & Barbara Booker & family.
