Obituary

Gaile Lee Rogers, 77, of Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 20, 2025. She was born in Brunswick, Virginia to the late Howard Eugene Lee and Hazel Holloway Lee. She is preceded in death by her sister, Geannie Dale Lee, and grandson, Justin Rogers.

Gaile is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Jerry Lee Rogers: daughters, Karen Gaile Carter-Myers (John) and Audra Jean Carter-Lowry; sons, J.L. Rogers II (Missy), Joe Rogers (Tracy), and Jamie Rogers (Davylin); nine beloved grandchildren; three beautiful great grandchildren; sister, Arlene Matsumura (Michael); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gaile was passionate about many things during her lifetime, but especially her family. As the oldest daughter, she took the responsibilities of being the big sister to heart. After meeting her soulmate and almost making us the “Brady Bunch,” she found her true calling in keeping a very busy household running as smoothly as possible.

To the kids, she was our encourager and our disciplinarian, holding high expectations to raise all of us to be the best that we could be. She truly made our house a home! Whether it was packing lunches at 4:00 a.m., following everyone around ball fields every evening, washing loads and loads of clothes while keeping a clean house, pushing two full carts of food through the grocery store while herding all of us, preparing hot meals daily, working full-time, refereeing the many sibling challenges, or remembering where everyone was supposed to be at any given moment… she did it with endless energy and love.

She always gave 110%! She was a devoted wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend, mentor, and confidant who loved her extended family deeply. She was so proud to have raised five kids, but she was even prouder of her grandkids and great-grandkids.

From a young age, she was an animal magnet, always adopting or rescuing those that were hurt or required a safe haven. She loved riding and showing horses and spoiling her special companion cats. She was also a great athlete, spending many days playing and coaching softball. There was nothing she couldn’t accomplish with her strong will and focus. She will be missed so much on earth, but we know she is waiting in the house the Lord has prepared for us in Heaven.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. Followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gaile’s name to any animal shelter or animal rescue organization of your choice.
