Obituary

Snoke, Galen Raymond, 90, of Richmond, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 15, 2009. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Glada Lee Snoke; his three girls, Kathy Susan Snoke, Karen Lee Snoke Wilson and her husband, Charles M. Wilson, and Judy Kay Snoke White; grandchildren, Nathan Wayne Ballas and his wife, Jessica, Justin Michael Ballas, Charles Milton Wilson, Jr., Bethany Lee Wilson, and Benjamin Galen Wilson; nephews, Richard Brooks, Winston Bobby Brooks, Jr., and Robert Alan Brooks; niece, Jean Holly McMurtry. Mr. Snoke was born in Shippensburg, PA, to the late Lester and Nora Snoke. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Lester Snoke, and his son-in-law, Darryl K. White. Galen was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, a professional drummer, a retiree from United Airlines, a former member of the Ukrop Singers, and an avid fisherman. As a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church, he served as financial secretary for 40 years, a choir member, started the Homebound Ministry, and was a faithful servant of his Lord, Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10). His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 5200 Newbys Bridge Rd., Chesterfield, VA 23832, American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060, or a charity of your choice.
