Obituary

Gorham, Gene Allen, 78, of Midlothian, passed away surrounded by his family on July 28, 2010, after a short illness. He had just celebrated his 57th anniversary with his wife, Catherine Bradford Gorham. He is survived by his son, Jeff A. Gorham (Carol), daughter Beth G. Sherron (Ben) all of Richmond, brother Jim Gorham, Anniston, AL, sister Sara Buxton (Gary), Birmingham, AL, and numerous extended family members. His biggest pride and joy was his grandson Lt. Patrick A. Gorham and his fiancée Dee Warehime. Gene was born in Cullman, AL, on December 17, 1931, to the late J.D. and Edith Gorham. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1956 with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He was employed by Reynolds Metal Company, which took him on many exciting adventures to numerous countries. He retired after over 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer, woodworker, and a huge University of Alabama fan. A celebration of life service will be held at 6 pm on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10), with the family receiving friends from 5 to 6 pm prior to the service.
