Obituary

Georgina D. Foster, 82, of Chesterfield County passed away on April 10, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her devoted and cherished children, Scott A. Foster and Lisa A. Foster; sister, Janet Rodgers; and sisters-in law, Peggy McGee, Eloise Saunders, and Alice Foster, and many nieces, nephews here and in Scotland and her much loved grandcat Angus.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Merle D. Foster; parents, Alexander and Jemima Duff; brother, Alexander Duff and wife Jean; sister, Anne and husband Sam, sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Griles (Dick), Grace Alvis (Wallace), Marvin Foster (Jean), Michael Rodgers, Robert “Snag” Foster, and Page McGee.  Georgina was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and after immigrating to the US at 17, she worked for VEPCO and met Merle.  She owned Colonial Card & Party in Colonial Heights for 14 years and also retired as a teacher’s aide from Falling Creek Elementary. She was the best mother, wife, neighbor and warrior.  She loved her yard and gardening and could grow anything. She fought this battle with everything she had and showed us immense courage, faith and perseverance. The family will receive guests from 11:00 am-12:00 pm with her memorial service starting at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 4 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd.
