Obituary

Gloria Yocum, 53, of N. Chesterfield, Va. crossed her final bridge on Thursday, June 25, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Helen Yocum. She is survived by her loving wife, Sandra J. Graupmann; son, Tony Yocum (Heather Poole); daughter, Ashley Yocum (George McMurtry); Brother, Gregory Yocum; sister, Gwin Yocum; nieces, Rachael (David) Johnson and Rebekah Yocum; and great nephews, Kyle and Wyatt Johnson. Gloria was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and great aunt. Gloria served as matriarch of the Yocum Clan since her mother”™s passing in 2018.

Gloria”™s professional impact on Opioid Treatment Programs was honed over almost three decades of service to the treatment community. After graduating VCU with a Master”™s Degree in 2006, she went on to achieve multiple certifications, her last in October 2019, as a Licensed Professional Counsel [LPC]. Gloria passed her LPC on the first test!

Gloria was the president of the Virginia Association of Medication Assisted Programs (VAMARP) for 10 years. During her time with VAMARP, she was intricate in the development of an annual conference. Over her 10 year tenure she saw the conference evolve into a two day professional development conference for both nurses and clinicians. Even after handing over the “torch” she remained involved with the association.

Gloria tirelessly worked as an advocate for patients with Opioid Use Disorder. She was involved with fighting for Medicaid coverage for medication assisted treatment. This was evident in her involvement and input in the development of Medicaid’s Addiction Recovery Treatment Services (ARTS) program.

Since August 2011, Gloria was employed by Sellati and Company, Inc. as the Program Director at Richmond Private Methadone Clinic prior to promotion as the Operations Manager/Corporate Compliance Officer. While at Sellati, she was instrumental in monitoring and overseeing clinics in VA & NC accreditation thru CARF; responsible for improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implantation of effective methods and strategies; monitor and strive to satisfy all federal and state laws and mandates. Gloria”™s was also, instrumental in overseeing Medicaid credentialing and contracting for Sellati clinics. During the COVID 19 pandemic she continued her crusade to get Medicaid to cover additional services for the patients she represented such as paying for telehealth and take-home doses. Gloria was recently referred to by Sellati”™s as “our gladiator” for addiction treatment and recovery.

In addition to her full time position with Sellati, Gloria qualified as a CARF Surveyor in 2016 for the Opioid Treatment Programs. CARF Accredited programs are certifications conducted as Peer Reviews by professionals in the field, using international care standards.

Gloria was a respected friend of Bill W. for over 27 years and a strong supporter of REBOS and Second Floor Serenity. Her care and guidance was exemplified by her favorite quote, “We are not placed on this Earth to see through each other”¦but to see each other through”. Her insight and compassion will be greatly missed.

To all the extended “Family” and friends that joined the backyard cookouts and deck talks, Gloria will always be remembered as the “hostess with the mostest”.

Family will receive friends, Wednesday, July 8th 11 am – 12 pm at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service; 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. N. Chesterfield, Va. 23234. The Celebration of her Life will follow at 12 pm. Interment will be private.
