Obituary

Graham Carroll Nelms, 97, of Chesterfield, VA went to be with his Lord on November 20, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Pace Nelms, his parents and five siblings. He is survived by his devoted daughters; Susan Nelms, Becky McCracken (Charles), Kathy McDaniel (Stuart), and MaryBeth Davis (Rick); six grandchildren, Jessica Finfrock, Philip McCracken, Morgan McDaniel, Katie Klug, Jacquelyn Duggan, and Rachael Sammons; great granddaughter, Charlotte Sammons; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Graham was a proud Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He attended military and patriotic observances throughout his lifetime. He worked for E.I. DuPont, retiring as a planner after 38 years. He was a member of Branch’s Baptist Church for over 63 years, he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a Choir member and took great pride in participating in many mission trips. He grew up in the Oak Grove Community and stayed in touch with lifelong friends as a member of the “Oak Grove Gang”. Graham was a devoted Mason for over 70 years, he was a lifetime member of Forest Hill Lodge 14. Graham was an avid traveler, he loved to spend his summer vacations camping and was successful in visiting all 50 states. Graham will forever be remembered for his friendly smile, positive outlook, and kindness to others. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Morrissett Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd, N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. His funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Branch’s Baptist Church, 3400 Broad Rock Blvd, Richmond, VA 23234 the family will also receive friends one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Branch’s Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Branch’s Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
